On the way to Sandakphu there is a small village named Koiakatha. The total number of huts is about five. It seems the total population in the village is about 15 and most of the villagers are above 50 years in age.
Chenju, a tea-stall owner, adopted Dorji, the only child in the village. Dorji is an orphan.
We stayed there for about three hours but did not see Dorji speaking to anyone – not even with Chenju, his father. We misunderstood him to be dumb.
Dorji has no friend in the village but has a deep attachment with the hens, goats and the cows, the live stocks those belong to Chenju. The attachment is amazingly both ways. The relationship between Chenju and Dorji is very interesting. During our stay at Koiakatha, we did not see Chenju talking to Dorji but they have very clear understanding related to responsibility, sharing day to day job.
Chenju is more like a friend and occasionally father.
